At the head of the Eppzirler valley stretches an alpine pasture framed by rugged limestone peaks. In the 16th century, valuable Tyrolean stone oil was extracted in the breathtaking natural scenery and even Emperor Maximilian was particularly fond of the hiking area around the Eppzirler Alm. To this day, the active alpine pasture with about 90 head of cattle at 1,459 metres above sea level is a popular destination for hikers and families.
