Feast of St. Andrew
The parish church of St. Andreas in Anger was built between 1708 and 1711 by master builder Lorenz Stattaler from St. Ruprecht an der Raab. It is a four-bay wall pillar church with side chapels and surrounding galleries, completed by a powerful chancel apse. However, the bell tower is of medieval origin and was completed with a massive tower dome in 1764. This oldest part of the church was constructed around 1161 as a Romanesque chancel tower church and decorated with frescoes in the 14th century.
In the bell tower, there are five bells, including the largest and oldest one from the year 1713, cast by Florentin Streckfuß in Graz. Following are three steel bells from the year 1922, cast by Böhler in Kapfenberg, and finally a bronze bell from 1936, a work of the Graz foundry Szabo. Aside from the large apostle paintings on the galleries, the magnificent organ case is particularly noteworthy. It was created around 1740 by Graz organ builder Caspar Mitterreither. The current organ is a work by organ builder Georg Jann from the year 1983.
