Once you have made the necessary settings, the app can recognize when you have passed stamping points without making an entry. These entries will be suggested to you afterwards, and you will still need to confirm them.

If you accept this check-in suggestion, the points for the hiking badge will be credited to you retroactively. Under your profile settings, in the "Suggested Entries section" , you can configure your app to suggest not only locations that are part of a hiking badge, but all locations registered in our database.

To ensure these automatic suggestions work, you must enable the following on your smartphone

  • have GPS activated at all times
  • have high GPS accuracy enabled,
  • set our app's location access to "always allow"
  • and briefly open the app before your hike until your current location is recognized
  • and let the app run in the background during your hike.

Check-in suggestion new iOS app

"Check-in suggestions can be found in the 'For You' menu item": If locations are suggested that you reached without a check-in, you will be notified when you open the app. Simply confirm the suggestion by clicking the checkmark at the stamping point. The familiar input interface will then open, where you can add a photo or text and save the entry."Check-in suggestions can be found in the 'Entry' menu item": If there are new suggestions there, you will be notified with a red number symbol. You still need to confirm the check-in suggestions for the entry to actually be created. Simply tap the name of the stamping point and the normal input interface will open, where you can add a photo/text and save the entry.

Check-in suggestion Android app

You can find the check-in suggestions in the Android app right at the top of the tour book. Here, too, you still need to confirm the entries in order to create them.

Note: Sometimes you will get check-in suggestions for locations where you checked in already. This can happen when you are longer on a location and the internet connection is lost for a short time. In this case please refuse the check-in suggestion, otherwise you will get double entries. If you have made double entries by mistake, you can delete them on our website (not in the app). When the check-in time of the entries is very close, you get the points for the hiking badge just for the first check-in. So double entries do not give you any advantage ;)

Tagged by a friend

Another reason why a check-in might be suggested to you is that a friend tagged you in an entry. In the new iOS app, this also appears under "Entry," and in the Android app, it appears as an "invited check-in" in the tour book. In this case, too, you must manually confirm the entry again to have the hiking badge points credited to you.
