A moderately challenging and ambitious mountain hike featuring short climbing passages on quiet paths. Cross the beautiful summits of the Wilder Kaiser region far away from the hustle and bustle. This demanding tour starts at the car park and heads towards the Ackerlhütte mountain hut, continuing into the Niedersessel cirque and up to the Maukspitze and Ackerlspitze peaks. These offer a wonderful all-round panoramic view. Following a descent into the Griesner Kar cirque, head past the Fritz-Pflaum-Hütte (self-catering mountain hut) and proceed to the Stripsenjochhaus. You can relax here for the rest of the day and settle in for an overnight stay. On the next day, you head across the Hoher Winkel cirque to the Kopftörl mountain pass. Heading past the Kaindl-Stewart-Nadel pillar, you should make a descent to the Gruttenhütte mountain hut and hike back via the Bergsteigergrab to return to the car park in Going.
This very challenging tour demands surefootedness and it is absolutely essential for mountaineers to have a good head for heights and alpin experience!
We recommend this tour with an experienced and local mountain guide - here you will find the contacts of all mountain guides in the Wilder Kaiser region.
