The route starts at the Alpenarena, leading through the spa park before heading straight uphill toward Schlossalm. Passing Hotel Goldberg, the trail initially follows the bird-themed educational path. After a short downhill section, the route veers right.
Across meadows and trails, passing Mitteregg- and Baldaufgut, the trail connects to the Schlossalm loop trail, which continues climbing. After reaching the highest point at kilometer 7.5, only about 50 meters of elevation remain on forest roads before the descent begins.
Passing Aeroplanstadl, the trail follows the toboggan run downhill. From Goldberg, the route leads back through the spa park and returns to the Alpenarena.
After less than a kilometer on asphalt through the town center, the course once again dives into the breathtaking world of trail running. Following the Höhenweg, the climb leads up to Annencafé before repeatedly crossing a forest road, always taking the shortcut through the woods, passing the Rastötzenalmen.
The flowing trail continues to wind higher until reaching the ridge between the Gastein and GroÃarl valleys. This section offers stunning panoramic views over the vast surrounding landscape.
Soon, the trail reaches the Gamskarkogelhütte. With 1,900 meters of elevation gain completed, itâs time to enjoy the downhill along the permanent trail running route T1 back to the Alpenarena in Bad Hofgastein. The descent starts to the right of the Gamskarkogelhütte, leading down to Rastötzenalm before continuing downhill along a familiar section toward town. At a water fountain, the route takes a sharp right turn.
From here, the trail follows a forest road, briefly climbing before descending again to the right toward Planitzenbauer. After a few meters, the course takes another sharp right, passing a farmhouse. A short asphalt section follows before reaching Café Sonnberg, where the Höhenweg trail begins, leading through the final elevation section back into the valley.
