Route:? Ehrwald / Ehrwaldalmbahn cable-car base station – Gaistal valley – Leutasch / Salzbachbrücke bridge
This intermediate level tour scores not only because of the stunning views over to the rocky peaks of the Wetterstein and Mieminger mountain ranges, but also because of the opportunity to put your feet up and enjoy a rest at one of the 3 sunny Alpine huts at the foot of the Wetterstein range - the Feldernalm, the Tillfußalm or the Gaistalalm. The tour starts at the Ehrenwaldalmbahn cable-car base station. From there a moderate climb along a forest track takes you, via the hut Ehrwalder Alm, to the hut Seebensee lake turnoff. The 3.25 km long detour along route with its stunning panoramic views of the Seebensee lake is well worth it and is not particularly hard-going. The only steep section is the last kilometre from the hut Seebenalm. If necessary, you can leave your bike at the alm and walk up. Those bikers who like to take it easy will enjoy the more-or-less downhill return trip along the banks of the Gaistalbach and the Leutascher Ache streams, passing the above-mentioned Alpine huts until the route ends at the Salzbachbrücke bridge. Tip: you can cycle this route the other way round too.
