The winter sports museum is located in the center of Haus im Ennstal and is housed in the old "Troadkasten" (toe store). It takes you on a journey through time to the beginnings of winter sports and winter tourism. The development of locomotion in the snow is shown in three areas - from hunting and timber hauling to leisure activities and competition.
Winter tourism around Hauser Kaibling began with the construction of the Krummholzhütte in 1908. In 1912 the first school skiing courses took place under head teacher Friedrich Kabusch. There was still no goods and passenger transport and a porter took over the transport tasks from the valley to the hut. The material cableway, built in 1947, finally facilitated the transport and ascent to the hut. In 1950, the Schladminger Tauern cable car was built.
