1000 metres have to be conquered under your own steam on this stage. The highlights are of course the magnificent views to be seen in all directions; the Brixen Valley, the Wilder Kaiser, and the ridges of the northern Alps
In Niederau take the Markbachjoch lift to the first high point of the day. Take the serpentine bends via Grafenweg and Hopfgarten to the next cable car up the Hohe Salve.
At the mid station take a right for another 200 metre climb before descending into the Brixen Valley. Cross the road and continue on Westendorf and the Alpenrosen lift which you take to the top.
At this point downhill bikers can take a more demanding route or stay on the original path, which takes you north to the Choralpe. From here take the meadow path followed by a stretch of gravel down to the Hochbrixen cable car. Once again you travel with your bike to the top station.
After a stop at the nearby Filzalmsee take the long tarmaced road down to the valley. Save your brakes then on the bike path to Kirchberg and the end of today's journey.
