The Brandstadlbahn takes you comfortably from Scheffau up to the Brandstadl mountain (1.650 m), the starting point of this panoramic hike. From the Brandstadlbahn mountain station, hike past the Brandstadl mountain restaurant and the “KaiserWelt” play ground. Follow hiking trail no. 40 to the Hartkaiser. You will pass Tanzbodenalm and a crossroads. Turn left onto panorama path no. 6, which takes you to the Hartkaiser mountain station in Ellmau (1.550 m) with almost no difference in altitude. Before you enjoy the beautiful view of the Wilder Kaiser from the terrace of the Hartkaiser panorama restaurant, you will pass through “Ellmi’s Zauberwelt” - an adventure world, full of goblins, fairies and forest spirits. On the way back, you can take forest path no. 11 in the direction of Brandstadl or the familiar panorama path no. 6 again. Finally, you meet the route from the way there just below the Tanzbodenalm and hike up to the Brandstadl mountain station.
You can start the circular hike either from the Brandstadl in Scheffau or in the opposite direction from the Hartkaiser in Ellmau. It is also possible to do the hike in one direction and take the gondola (Brandstadlbahn or Hartkaiserbahn) down to the valley. Once in the valley, you can take the KaiserJet hiking bus back to the starting point in Scheffau or Ellmau.
