The Great and Little Raab Gorge, with a total length of about 17 kilometers, form the longest gorge in Austria. The gorge is the ideal hiking area for young and old, especially with children, and offers a breathtaking animal and plant world. Whether it's the beauty of the water, which sometimes babbles gently, then rushes wildly over rocks. Or simply the beauty of silence.

The Raab Gorge Circular Trail starts in Arzberg (village center) and is approximately 12 kilometers long, taking around 5 hours.

The Great Raab Gorge has been designated as a nature reserve and Natura 2000 site due to its special protection status concerning the biodiversity of its animal and plant life.

Crystal-clear water, romantic walkways, steep rocks, and ravines characterize the landscape and provide a unique natural and recreational area.

A tremendous variety of natural beauties, as well as plant and animal species, amazes visitors. For instance, the white-throated dipper, kingfisher, and black stork are rare animal species still seen in the Raab Gorge. The gorge has also been declared a European protection area due to its numerous protected caves and the bat species and other endangered birds associated with them.

The shade-giving trees of the local mixed forest majestically adorn the hiking trails with their deep root systems. Numerous entry points into this unique natural and recreational area invite you to linger in the gorge.

Parts of the gorge can also be navigated with a stroller or wheelchair.

The Raab Gorge nature and hiking paradise is located near the district capital of Weiz and borders the "Almenland Nature Park" in Arzberg. Experience the natural beauties of the Raab Gorge in a special way. With a bit of hiking luck, one can admire the white-throated dipper, gray heron, and black stork feeding along the Raab River.

The Raab Gorge Circular Trail starts in the village center of Arzberg (parking available). - Duration: approx. 5 hours - Length: approx. 12 kilometers - Elevation gain: approx. 520 meters

After the hike, you can stop in Arzberg, either at the Kirchenwirt or the nearby Gasthaus Sperl - Grillwirt. The hike could be combined with a visit to the Arzberg Silver Mine, the Almenland Stollenkäse (cave cheese), or the Moarhof Trout Farm.
