Chiemsee-Alpenland

Characterised by the Mangfall Mountains and the Chiemgau Alps, the Chiemsee-Alpenland is one of the most popular hiking regions in Bavaria and located about 60 kilometres south of Munich. Around 1,500 kilometres of hiking trails with various degrees of difficulty lead through the region and take hikers on tours with beautiful views. The landscape at the foothills of the Alps reveals a colourful diversity of plant and animal species, for example in the nature reserves such as the Eggstätt-Hemhofer Seenplatte or in one of the many moors. The numerous lookouts and observation towers, not only around Lake Chiemsee, guarantee unique views of and insights into nature. Special chapels, monuments and historic towns spread throughout the region are a worthwhile destination and can be combined with a leisurely hike. There are also exciting things for children to discover in the region on themed trails and adventure stations.
